Microchip Pet Door Connect keeps Rolo’s routine on track

Hamish initially purchased a SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap for his cat Rolo before moving on to the SureFlap Microchip Pet Door Connect as soon as it became available.

Rolo the cat case studyHe said: “We had been saying for years cat flaps ought to be Wi-Fi connected, as we’re regularly away for a night or busy out of the house in the evenings. As soon as you emailed saying a Wi-Fi pet door was coming, I registered my interest immediately. We were waiting for a move date to our new house, knowing we’d have to get a glass door pane cut for the flap, so desperately hoped the flap would be available before we moved. It did, thank you!”

Now that the Microchip Pet Door Connect has been installed and is in use, we find out how Hamish and Rolo are getting on with it.

Hamish, how did you find the setup of the Microchip Pet Door Connect?

“I was surprised. Given it was your first Wi-Fi product, the setup was relatively straightforward and worked first time.”

How do you feel that the Microchip Pet Door Connect benefits Rolo?

“When we went away for the weekend previously we’d leave Rolo locked in the house once he came home. It was the safest option but there was always the risk of him being trapped if there was a fire. Now we can keep his routine going wherever we are, so we don’t worry, and he can always spend time outside in the daytime.”

Have you used the curfew mode?

“The curfew is great for convenience. Rolo can be a bit erratic in deciding to wander off for three hours just as it gets dark, so we can choose to lock him in if he comes home a bit early.”

Does the pet door make you feel more connected to Rolo?

“Yes, it’s reassuring to see when he goes in and out. It feels like we’re being better cat parents.”

How did you find the setup of the app?

“Reasonably simple, and it was easy enough to add other devices too. They link up through the account and you don’t need to do the connection setup individually, which is good.”

How often do you use the app?  When do you interact with the app most?

“Mostly in the morning to let him out when we’re still in bed before we’ve showered. But we use it throughout the day most days.”

Is there an area of the app that you have used most?

“The remote locking and unlocking is the feature that we use the most.”

Do you find the notifications useful?

“The notifications are useful and reassuring, especially if we’ve gone out when it’s daylight and it gets dark. It’s good to see that he’s come home.”

Hamish’s wife has access to the app too, so they can both keep an eye on Rolo’s movements and lock or unlock the door whenever they choose.
