Microchip Pet Feeder prolongs the life of chronically ill cat

Jenny has three cats: Harry (11 years old), Penny (18 months old) and a kitten called Molly. She did have another older cat, Holly, who sadly passed away a few months ago due to chronic kidney disease. Jenny has SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeders to manage her cats’ different diets. We got in touch with her to find out how her cats are getting on with them and how Holly’s feeder helped her when she was poorly.

Jenny, firstly, can you tell us what type of food your cats eat?

Harry is on an obesity special wet diet. He has lost 2kg over a 12-month period which the vet is very happy with. Penny eats wet adult cat food with some dry food occasionally, while Molly eats wet kitten food.

Why did you purchase the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeders?

Harry and Penny eating from SureFeed Microchip Pet FeedersHarry had to have his tail amputated at a year old. He then put on a lot of weight. He would eat all the other cats’ food and he is a large cat, so the others didn’t stand a chance.

Holly (now deceased) was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and given three months to live. Once we got the Microchip Pet Feeders and found a special renal food she liked she made a massive improvement and the vet was amazed. She lived 18 months following her diagnosis and I am sure this is due to her being able to eat the right diet.

With an obese cat, a poorly cat and a kitten we bought the microchip pet feeders after a friend recommended them. The cats soon got used to them. The training mode was really easy. We wanted to make sure all our cats were eating the right food as their health depended on it.

How well did your cats take to their Microchip Pet Feeders?

They love them. The feeders keep their food fresh all day and give them the security of not being pestered while they are eating. It took a week to train them, but it was really easy.

Do the Microchip Pet Feeders keep your cats’ food fresher?

Yes, and my house does not have a lingering smell of cat food any more.

Have the Microchip Pet Feeders helped you reduce the amount of cat food you waste and thus saved you money on cat food?

The cats eat exactly the right amounts now which is so helpful. I never have any left in the bowls to have to throw away. I have definitely saved money, but that was not something I thought about when I bought them, it was more for my cats’ health. Harry is no longer at risk of diabetes or arthritis caused by his weight so that has been amazing.

Did you use the training mode?

Yes, although when we got our new little kitten she was so used to the mechanism from watching the other cats that by the time we got her microchipped, she took to hers immediately, so we did not need to use the training mode on the one we reprogrammed for her.

Would you recommend the Microchip Pet Feeder to other pet-owning people?

I would recommend it to any cat owner but especially those with multiple cats. So amazing, easy and effective. They have been a complete godsend and I will always be grateful that they helped our old lady to live a happy end of life with us at home. She was a happy cat right to the end.

Is there any other feedback you would like to share with us?

When we go away I don’t use a cattery anymore. The feeders and our SureFlap Microchip Cat Door means I can get a local cat minder to come to our home. The cats love him and can stay in comfort at home. They are much happier now and there are no cold shoulders when we return. I’ve saved a fortune in cattery fees.

Also, even though the feeders may seem expensive as an initial outlay, the benefits far outweigh this. And I can say we have had ours for two years now and they only just needed the batteries changing. Fantastic product.
