Ruby the cat hits target weight thanks to SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder

Eugénie has two cats – a 13-year-old tortoiseshell called Ruby and a one-year-old black and white cat called Georgie, who she adopted recently after her other cat Cissie sadly passed away. Both of her cats are rescue cats. Ruby was found having kittens in the snow, while Georgie was found with her siblings in a box outside Anfield football club.

Her cats each have a SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder to stop them stealing each other’s food. We got in touch with Eugénie to find out how this product has helped her to manage her cats’ diets and ensure her cats lead a healthy lifestyle.

What type of food do you feed your cats?

They eat wet and dry food – three meals a day.

Can you tell us about your experience with the Microchip Pet Feeder?

We started to use the pet feeders when Ruby was attending the Feline Weight Management Clinic at Leahurst, and they’ve been invaluable as both cats have different diets and have their food weighed to the gram. Ruby achieved her target weight in 2019.

The feeders were also useful when introducing Georgie to the household. [I should say that when we first got the feeders, they were used by Ruby and Cissie, but we adopted Georgie a few months after Cissie passed away]. The feeder gave Ruby her own private eating space and helped with any jealousy. I’ve found the feeders easy to clean too.

Do the feeders keep your cats’ food fresher?

The girls eat all their food as soon as it’s in the bowls, so we have no waste, but I suspect that the feeders would keep any leftovers fresh if there were any.

Did you use the training mode?

Both cats took to the feeders without a quibble, so we didn’t need to use the training mode.
