Jack has an Animo activity and behaviour monitor that enables Mr and Mrs Bell to keep track of his activity levels, set goals and monitor behaviour such as barking, scratching, shaking and sleep quality. Thanks to Muffin’s Microchip Pet Feeder Connect, Jack can no longer steal her food. Here’s what Jack thinks to this new pet tech in his life.
Hi, I’m Jack! Over the last few months my humans have made some changes that have made me lose weight – I definitely feel healthier for it, but it’s not necessarily fun! I can’t help myself to Muffin’s food anymore – her special bowl only opens for her so now I can only eat my dog food. At least my food tastes nicer. Muffin has a new cat flap too that only lets her in. Her old cat flap meant that most of the cats in the neighbourhood used to come in at one time or another, which really used to bug me. One cat in the house is enough if you ask me!
A few weeks ago, the humans put this little device called an Animo on my collar; I keep forgetting it’s there, it’s so light. But every now and again I remember that’s the reason we go for slightly longer walks than we used to. I overhear them saying we have to meet my goal for the day, whatever that means. It’s nice though, because we get to spend more quality time together and I can spend more time doing my favourite things like running through the fields and sniffing random patches of grass.
I’m quite an adventurous dog and I thought this Animo thingy would stop me from swimming in the stream and rummaging through the bush – but it just keeps working no matter what I’m doing.
The humans have been so much more attentive – they knew as soon as I started scratching that I needed flea treatment, they knew I wasn’t sleeping well one night and the next night gave me an extra blanket to keep me warm, and they figured out that I used to bark at the postman, so now they keep the door to the hallway closed.
The humans certainly seem quite smug that they’re able to care for me even better now. Anyway, gotta go, it’s time for walkies again!
