Where should I put my SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder?

Find out where the best place to put your Microchip Pet Feeder or Microchip Pet Feeder Connect to ensure your pet has the best experience when eating.

Avoid busy areas

Cats prefer to eat in peace and not be disturbed. Therefore, it’s a good idea to place your cat’s feeder in a quiet area of the house. If your cat is regularly disturbed while eating, they might not feed how they would prefer, choosing to eat quickly and get out of the way rather than grazing on their food which might come more naturally to them. Also, if the feeder is placed in an area of high traffic, it’s more likely that someone in the house may trip over it.

Avoid entrances

Try to make sure that your cat’s feeder is not directly next to any external doors, windows or cat flaps, as they might be concerned about other animals coming in to steal their food or interrupt their feeding. Keep their feeder away from the cat flap even if it is a Microchip Cat Flap. If you’ve recently installed the Microchip Cat Flap, they might not understand that it won’t let any intruders in yet.

Multi-cat homes

If you have more than one cat, do not place their feeders directly next to each other. As previously stated, cats prefer privacy when eating, so even though your Microchip Pet Feeders will stop your cats eating each other’s food, you should place them in separate locations rather than directly next to each other, ensuring privacy is maintained.

Interference

Metallic or electrical appliances shouldn’t affect the operation of the feeder, but if you are experiencing intermittent functionality, try moving the feeder to a new location away from any appliances. Cold temperatures could affect the operation of the feeder, so do not put it in the fridge or put ice packs underneath it.

Indoor feeding

The feeders are designed to be used indoors. It’s not advisable to use them outdoors because the weather and water ingress could affect their operation.

Hub location

If you have a Microchip Pet Feeder Connect, you will need to ensure that it is within 10 metres of the Hub. Do not place the Hub near any large bodies of water (e.g. fish tanks), near any sources of interference (e.g. telephones or baby monitors) or near any large metal objects (e.g. fridges) as these could affect the connection between the Hub and the feeder. Also, make sure there aren’t any thick walls between the Hub and the Microchip Pet Feeder Connect.
